VICKY BENITEZ MENDOZA'S PROFILE

FOUNDER and GENERAL DIRECTOR OF GRUPO MODSTIL

Vicky Benítez Mendoza was born in Mexico City, and in the present resides in Morelia Michoacán City, where she has developed her professional activities for more than 21 years, supported by her daughter Victoria, who shares her love for fashion. She has worked tirelessly to raise the academic standard and to dignify fashion-related education, promoting the development of high-quality education in our country. She is convinced that education and responsible knowledge are socially the main engine for development, and that they constitute powerful instruments for transformation, progress, and equal employment opportunity, so that Mexico can achieve a transcendent renovation which can notably influence in the fate of its inhabitants. She is committed to investment in education, which is the best guarantee of future of prosperity and social peace.

She obtained a Biology degree because at that time there was not professional education on fashion in Mexico, but she always knew her vocation was in this field. That was a strong motivation for creating a school of fashion design, which turned later in the foundation of what today is Modstil Instituto, where she later earned a degree in Design and Fashion Industry.

She was pioneer in receiving official recognition from the Mexican educational authority (SEP) for technical degrees in Fashion Design and Professional Modeling, more than two decades ago.

In order to professionalize the curriculum and to offer a new educational alternative in Mexico, she innovated to create the Superior Degree in Design and Fashion Industry, obtaining its official validity and promoting the improvement and internationalization of Mexican university education.
Due to her perception to the current needs of contemporary women and men in both the labor and personal fields, she has worked in personal growth and image areas, which was the starting point for creating the Superior and Technical degrees in Image Design.

Her enthusiasm and dedication for fashion, her greatest passion, has positioned Modstil Instituto on a level of high prestige, as well as national and international recognition, due to its educational quality and activities directly linked to the productive, economic, and social sectors.

She has been cofounder of the first fashion congresses in Mexico, and organizer of spectacular fashion events in the area. She has also been member of the jury in beauty competitions in Michoacán and in several different Mexican states; she has participated in a number of courses, seminaries, and national and international congresses related to fashion, design, image, and education.

She is an active member of important societies of the fashion industry, and of the educational field. Due to this, she has been invited to world-class organizations, like Universia Red de Universidades Internacionales, where she participates as "Excellent Headmaster" of Modstil Instituto, which is an unparalleled honor granted because of her profile and exclusive representation of fashion schools in Latin America.

From her continuous connection with the fashion world and with several fashion-related societies, she developed the idea of founding new firms linked to fashion, design, and image. GRUPO MODSTIL is the result of the concretion of such idea, and in the present it consists of five companies, where, due to the dimension and importance of their activities, Michoacán State Government has authorized GRUPO MODSTIL to liberate social service, which is an additional benefit for Modstil Instituto's (as well as other universities') students.

As a prominent businesswoman, she has received notable personal rewards, for the Instituto and the other companies of GRUPO MODSTIL under her command. Her professionalism has granted to her Master and Doctoral degrees, in addition to several rewards conferred by important Ibero American societies.
